The European Union is a union of European nations forming a supranational system of control over member states policies on finance, trade, agriculture, fishing, health and immigration to name but a few
Euro MPs are elected by the constituents of member states but their ability to decide and affect many policies simply do not exist as the self imposed powers of the European Union allow them to make decisions of some magnitude without even consulting member states or their representatives.
The fact that this undemocratic tyrannical system of control is stifling industry, small business and imposing draconian laws and restrictions on all areas of life, the populations of the member states are still largely blissfully unaware of the effect it is having on their lives.
Some highlights of EU policy include despotic imposition of Euro standards in motor engineering, dramatically increasing the cost of motoring, the complexity of mechanical engines, the cost of parts and labour in vehicular maintenance, and the energy used in production of vehicles which is now dramatically higher than ever before. The net effect of all this is to slowly price the less well off out of motorised transport and to further restrict their mobility in finding and commuting to alternative areas of employment.
Much EU based power has been transferred illegally by member states without consulting their citizens or asking them to vote. A notable controversy was Tony Blair's broken promise to have a national referendum on the Lisbon Treaty which deferred massive national decision making to the EU and to an unelected and undemocratic decision making process. Not only was no referendum held, barely anybody in the country knew anything of the Lisbon treaty, or its effects.
